    What You Will Do


    Gannett Fleming’s Valley Forge office is currently seeking a talented entry-level to mid-level Traction Power Engineer to join one of the country’s premier rail transit systems teams. This professional will develop traction power substation construction plans and specifications under the guidance of senior-level traction power engineers.  The engineer will be asked to develop and review preliminary and final designs as well as evaluate existing traction power supply and distribution systems for a variety of clients and rail traction power.  Willingness to travel is welcomed but not required.  The entry-level Traction Power Engineer will have opportunities to interact with major rail-transit clients on the east-coast and as they grow within the firm nationally as well as in Canada. 


    Our client base includes commuter and intercity rail, rail mass transit (subway, elevated and other fixed urban guideway systems) and light rail owners and operators. We also provide design and construction management services to contractors for larger Design/Build projects. GFT&RS provides complete engineering design and traction power system analysis of AC and DC traction power systems.


    What You Will Do

    • Assist with the design of substation equipment, protective relaying, PLC control systems and equipment installation design for rail transportation facilities.
    • Participate in field investigations, surveys
    • Assist in the production of electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
    • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment while working with senior-level engineers.
    • Prepare designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.



    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelors' Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • 1-5 years professional experience
    • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD (knowledge of MicroStation is a plus)
    • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures
    • Understand and use basic engineering data, following well-defined procedures
    • Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong Analytical skills and the ability to think critically
